Market capitalisation is the market value of a publicly traded company’s outstanding shares. Here are the top 10 companies in UAE according to their market capitalisation.

1. First Abu Dhabi Bank

Market Capitalisation: $43.62 Billion

This bank was founded in 1968 and its headquarters is located in NBAD Tower Abu Dhabi, UAE. This bank is also known as the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD). NBAD is the largest lender bank in UAE and has the largest market capitalization among all the other banks in UAE. NBAD’s line of businesses include a whole range of retail banking, corporate, wholesale and investment banking, wealth management and private banking; as well as Islamic banking, brokerage, property management and leasing.  

2. Emirates Telecommunications Group Co

Market Capitalisation: $40.3 Billion

The Emirates Telecommunications Group Co is also known as etisalat. Etisalat was founded on 5 October, 1976 and its headquarters is located in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Etisalat is the 14th largest mobile network operator in the world, with a total customer base of more than 167 million. Etisalat provides fixed line and mobile telephony, internet services and digital television. Etisalat is one of the largest internet hubs in the Middle East.

3. DP World Ltd.

Market Capitalisation: $16.89 Billion

DP World is a global port operator founded in 2005 by the merger of Dubai Ports Authority and Dubai Ports International. Its headquarters is in Dubai, UAE. DP World provides port services, ferries and logistics services. There are almost 37,000 employees working for DP World.

4. Emirates Islamic Bank

Market Capitalisation: $14.79 Billion

Emirates Islamic Bank was founded in 2004 as an Islamic Bank in Dubai, UAE. The bank was established to provide banking services according to Shari’a Principles. It offers products for both small and large organizations.

5. Emirates NBD Bank

Market Capitalisation: $13.88 Billion

Emirates NBD Bank was founded on 19 June, 1963 in Dubai, UAE. It was the first bank established in Dubai and the UAE. Emaar Properties is a real estate development company located in the United Arab Emirates. It was founded in 1997 by Mohamed Alabbar. It is a public joint-stock company, listed in the Dubai financial market. The company operates internationally providing property development and management services.

8. Dubai Islamic Bank

Market Capitalisation: $9.37 Billion

Dubai Islamic Bank is the largest Islamic bank in UAE by assets and by public joint-stock company listed in Dubai Financial Market. It was established in 1975. The bank has currently 90 branches all across UAE. It provides banking and insurance facilities.

9. Abu Dhabi National Oil Company for Distribution

Market Capitalisation: $8.34 Billion

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company is also known as ADNOC. It is a state-owned oil company in UAE. It was founded in 1971 and was reconstructed in 1988. It is the world’s 12th largest oil company by production, producing 3.1 million barrels per day.

Market Capitalisation: $6.87 Billion
