DuBiotech.com Description: The Dubai Biotechnology & Research Park will be the centre of excellence in biotechnology, bridging research, education, and industry through national and international collaboration. The Dubai Biotechnology & Research Park (DuBiotech) was launched by HH General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defence, as part of Dubai’s 2010 vision to establish a knowledge based economy. Biotechnology is thriving and has thus been identified by the Government of Dubai as a major target area for economic development. In keeping with this vision, DuBiotech promises to be the regional centre of excellence for biotechnology. The Park will service the entire industry, ranging from small incubators to regional offices of key biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, to manufacturing plants. DuBiotech will have a regulatory framework, modeled on international best-practices. With this regulatory framework in place, all activities related to biotech development will be overseen and monitored, to ensure health & safety and streamlined operations for the park. In addition, a Steering Committee made up of prominent regional and international scientists will offer guidance to DuBiotech. The Committee will facilitate full regional involvement and provide direction to ensure that in this fast-paced industry, DuBiotech is able to respond to all changes in the most appropriate manner.
