Shell Exploration and Production Company is seeking an/a HSE Advisor – Contractor HSE Management for their New Orleans, Louisiana locatiion.


DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities :
  • Provide Contractor HSE Management primarily for Shell EPW Gulf Of Mexico Production, Construction and Logistics Contractors in accordance with the SEPCo HSE Contractor Management process
  • Work together with contractors to continually improve HSE performance by implementing HSE management controls that are appropriate for the level of HSE risk, the organizational relationship with the contractor and the capabilities of the contractor
  • Planning – assess and analyyze HSE risks for contractors; categorize mode of contract; participate in the selection of contract HSE clauses; identify eligible contractors; evaluate HSE capability questionnaire; evaluate historical HSE performance; evaluate the need for and execute HSE MS audits/reviews of contractors; band contractors (red, amber, green); participate on the HSE front during the evaluation, tendering and awarding of selected contractors
  • Execution – Participation in the definition and approval of the Contract HSEE Plan; ensure that pre-start up activities are in place prior to beginning work; participate in the monitoring of the implementation of the contract HSE plan
  • Analyze/Improve - Focal point for the sharing of learning’s and good practices (contractor HSE forums); quarterly review with the Tender Board the stoplight bands of contractors; steer HSE performance improvements of contractors

Key Accountabilities:
  • Report to the Team Lead for the Contractor HSE Management process who in turns reports to the HSE Assurance Manager of EPW with direct interfaces with the Production/Construction and Logistics organizations supporting GOM operations
  • Work with Operations (line and management) in the Gulf to develop continuous contractor safety programs
  • Oversee the contractor data-gathering process
  • Lead on-site evaluations
  • Assist in contractor selections as requested
  • Provide CSMP training, including SEPCo’s HSE commitment & Policy for affected personnel and contractors
  • Work closely with the supply chain organization
  • Seek out alliance opportunities to promote HSE objectives or improvements
  • Participate as CSMP team member

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Bachelor’s Degree and have approximately 10 or more years working experience in technical disciplines in the EP industry with exposure to HSE responsibilities Prior E&P operations or E&P HS&E experience
  • Technical (including HSE) and operations assignments in one or more of Shell’s operating companies or businesses
  • Prior experience working with and auditing of contractors
  • Applying HSE statutes and regulations and company HS&E standards
  • Supervisory assignment desired -- not required
